DELMAR RICHARD
“DEL” ADKINS, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Friday,
August 15, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center, Lorain, Ohio, following a
lengthy illness. He was born April 9, 1934 in Midkiff, West Virginia;
graduated from Guyan Valley High School, where he was an avid band
member, playing the tuba.
In Lorain, he worked at Fruehauf Trailers, then became a highly
respected auto salesman at various Ford dealerships until retiring
after 45 years.
He and his family were active members of The Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst, where they have lived since 1955.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Doris Lucille Adkins (nee
Godfrey); his daughters and husbands, Vicki and Charles Davis, Sandi
and Norm Shinsky of Amherst; grandchildren, HM3 Bryan Davis USN,
Stephen, Matthew, Daniel, Rebekah and Sarah Shinsky; brother, George H.
(Landy) Adkins, Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Phyllis J. Adkins Yost of
Midkiff, W. Va.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia B. Adkins (nee Gibson)
in 2005; his father, Garnett “Daud” Adkins and brother,
Mike Harry “Bud” Adkins, both in 2007.
Services were held at his Church by his Pastor, Rev. William Mouer;
burial was Wed., Aug. 20th in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
